Brief information about the Barnardo's Coop partnership

Collaboration with one of the world's largest consumer co-operatives to:

  • Identify challenges and co-design innovative new solutions
  • Bring local communities together with the key audience being young people
  • Influence positive change under 3 key strands: cost of living, youth opportunities and mental wellbeing

The partnership will focus on the barriers faced by young people to improve life chances and social mobility

As a Children's Services Manager you will be responsible for the leadership and management of 3-5 regional services described above as ‘In Community services'. These are based in social mobility ‘cold spots'.

We are advertising 4 fulltime post but Central England, London and the South East could be 2 part time roles or one fulltime role

The services will aim to work with 1000 young people each (over the 2 years)- they will aim to:

  • Improve mental wellbeing
  • Improve access to basic needs (food)
  • Improve access to opportunities

Each region will have a team of Project workers who the CSM's will line mange and lead. Projects will also seek volunteers to support in the delivery of the objectives. We are looking for people who have experience of mobilising services and being creative and solution focused. Being able to manage across widely dispersed areas and with dispersed teams is a must.

In addition, you will be required to:

  • Provide expertise and support to create, develop, deliver and evaluate our services across the UK taking a lead for specific service wide areas e.g. voice and influence; health and safety; digital; volunteering; fundraising etc
  • Work closely with the other regional CSM's to deliver the programme, meeting targets and building strong partnerships with regional Children's services colleagues, other VCSE organisations and stakeholders including young people
  • Work closely with Co-op, its community assets and other partners building strong and meaningful local partnerships
  • Ensuring all staff are well supported, have a sense of belonging as part of a wider team and partnership striving to improve things for young people
