Scientist (m/f/d) for Verification and Testing of Autonomous Systems

- Center for Digital Safety & Security -

  • The research field Dependable Systems Engineering (DSE) focuses on studying and developing methodologies, tools, and standards for increasing, verifying and validating the dependability of software and systems – during conception, development, certification and operation.
  • Our multidisciplinary, multinational and highly motivated team focuses on the development of innovative methods for verification, runtime verification and testing of autonomous systems.
  • You will contribute to the development of new methods and prototype tools for runtime verification, testing, verification, specification mining and/or fault localization of autonomous systems.
  • You will engage in and possibly lead collaborative research activities with academic and industry partners from Austria and Europe.
  • You will publish your scientific outcomes in top-tier journals and conferences.
  • You will define new scientific directions and successfully develop research proposals for our research projects (Horizon Europe, FFG, or similar programs) and clients in the private and public sector.
  • Additionally, you will supervise interns and students, who are also part of the project teams.
  • You will be able to interact with research and industrial partners on both the national and international level on exciting topics, allowing you to continuously enhance your own knowledge and skills.
  • Thanks to your motivation, innovative solutions, and expertise in this specific field, you will actively shape the field of safe autonomy.
  • You will have your opportunity to present your research at international research conferences
  • You will acquire experience on research project management and research proposal writing
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
  • PhD degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mathematics or related fields
  • Strong publication record in top journals and conferences
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, C++ and/or Java
  • Experience with CARLA, MATLAB Simulink, Z3 and/or Scenic is a plus
  • High commitment and ability to cooperate in multidisciplinary and diverse teams
  • Excellent command in spoken and written English

What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement is EUR 59.164,-. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience. In addition, we offer company benefits, flexible working conditions, individual training and career opportunities.
